Why Catholics should join CUF!

Dear Catholic Friend,

Your membership in and your support for Catholic United for the Faith is essential to assist all of us as we strive to let the splendor of the Church's teaching shine forth. The following are some of the areas and issues where CUF has provided an invaluable service to Catholic laity:

  1. You may know friends, colleagues, or family members who are ardent evangelical Protestants, Mormons, or Jehovah's Witnesses. These people may have objections to the Church's teaching on Our Lady, justification, or papal authority. Or you may have Catholic family members who have difficulty with the Church's teaching on contraception or other moral issues. Please call us at (800) MY-FAITH, and we'd be happy to send you a FAITH FACT that will help you lead them closer to Christ and His Church.

  2. Problematic sex education programs continue to be a problem in many areas of the United States in spite of the clear teaching found in The Truth and Meaning of Human Sexuality. Through the assistance offered by Information Services and by using our Effective Lay Witness Protocol, CUF members in two dioceses successfully petitioned their bishops to remove such programs from their schools. Other members have been able to lessen the effects of problematic sex education in their dioceses or schools. If we can help you or others you know in this delicate and important area, please call us.

  3. Some religious education materials dissent from or marginalize the teaching found in the Catechism. We've been able to help parents deal effectively with local pastors on this issue. If we can be of assistance, or if you homeschool your children and they are told they cannot receive the sacraments, please feel free to call us.

  4. Some Church renovations comply with current liturgical norms, but many do not. At times, renovators appeal to a false "spirit of Vatican II" that allegedly requires destroying works of art, removing statues, and banishing the Blessed Sacrament to a tiny closet. Upon discussing this with sympathetic officials of the Roman Curia last fall, we were able to develop an even more effective strategy to help members who face such concerns.

In addition to the controversies noted, there are hundreds of questions each month that members have about other matters pertaining to their faith. Information Services addresses a wide array of questions on the faith that helps thousands of people each year. These include questions on apologetics, Sacred Scripture, the sacraments, and virtually every area of Catholic life.

Along with our FAITH FACTS and research services, Information Services' staff are available to come speak at conferences, retreats, parish seminars, or any event in which you need someone to explain the riches of our faith. Over the past year, Information Services' staff have given parish missions, spoken at retreats, addressed high school students on matters of virtue development, given seminars on magisterial documents, and spoken at several conferences on a variety of topics. If you would like one of them to come for a speaking engagement, please call (800) MY FAITH for our speaker information.

Because we want to lead as many people as possible to Christ and His Church, we offer our FAITH FACT service free of charge. But keeping well qualified staff and maintaining a toll-free help line, a web site, and an extensive research library costs us nearly $200,000.00 each year.

Throughout the liturgical year, the Church asks us to pray, fast, and perform works of mercy. CUF's Information Services office is a great work of spiritual mercy. Please pray for the success of our efforts. that God may use us as instruments to lead even more souls to Christ, His Church, and His Vicar on earth.

And if God has blessed you financially, please consider making a gift for Information Services today. Your financial assistance makes it possible for members all over North America to receive an excellent service offered nowhere else.

Your contribution helps ensure that we will be here when you or someone you love calls with a question about the faith. Please consider making a donation today.

United in the Faith,

James Likoudis
